Unlock the Power of Exploration
The Explorers Leadership Group helps entrepreneurs and aspiring business leaders gain unique, actionable insights from expeditions in order to create more enduring ventures.
Marc Cappelletti
Marc began his career as a small ship cruise director, initially struggling to navigate life at sea, his own insecurities, and the challenge of keeping 100 travelers happy in extraordinary destinations and circumstances. However, after exploring eight countries in a year, he returned with a passion for exploration.
Since then, Marc has delved into nearly every aspect of the travel business. As VP of Expedition Development for Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic, he had the privilege of working with expedition teams, National Geographic Explorers, and operations teams to manage and create small-ship experiences in Alaska, Canada, and Central America. He has also planned expeditions for EYOS in Alaska and British Columbia.
These experiences taught him about goal setting, product development, customer insights, positioning, and scaling a business. Most importantly, he learned that the best opportunities for growth, both personally and professionally, often happen when things go wrong.
Marc has also marketed international internships, the world’s largest cruise and maritime industry trade show, and served as the Marketing and Communications Director for the Biomimicry Institute, where he helped dozens of nature-inspired startups, entrepreneurs, and innovators be seen in crowded markets.
When not out with his wife and two daughters on the coast of Maine, he studies modern and historic exploration and explorers, finding the overlap between expedition knowhow and tangible, actionable business leadership strategies.
Why Explorers?
What does Magellan know about my shrinking margins? Who cares if some teenager climbs K2 if I can’t scale my team?
Because all explorers face the unknown, setbacks, self-doubt, fear, financial struggles, loneliness, isolation, and being told “no” time and time again. They find ways to succeed, to move forward, and in doing so, explore as much of what it means to be human as they do the world around them.
We are here to present their wisdom in such a way that someone who hasn’t traveled beyond their neighborhood gets as many applicable lessons to improve their life as the most tested expedition leaders.
Who You'll Meet
We are excited to share a diverse set of voices and perspectives in the world of exploration, including many that have long been diminished or excluded entirely. New insights will come from new voices. And we’ll dig deeper into history’s greats too, making new connections to today’s challenges.
You’ll be surprised at how many explorers deliver hard-earned wisdom from one corner of the world that you can use to improve yours. (Though you will also meet historical figures whose characteristics you’ll learn to avoid at all costs!)
